Redscale Film in Your Toycam

Redscale film is achieved by basically placing the film upside down through the camera. This forces light through the red sensitive layer first, and thus gives the photo a reddish feel. To do this yourself you will need two normal 35mm film. Note one film will eventually be discarded. For this article I am specifically dealing with 35mm film, but using 120mm is also possible. Unravel the first film completely and cut the majority of the film off at the base, ensuring you leave at least 4cm remaining. Cut the leader off the second film (so the film is the same width) and lay the second film dull side up, and the first film shiny side up. Sticky tape them together ensuring there are no irregularities. Now for the fun part, in a dark bag or dark room wind the second film into the first film canister (scissors work best to wind it). Cut the film, and now you have your own red scale film. To tidy up the film, make an indent in the film with scissors, this helps to load the film easier.

I have heard that you can load the film from one canister to another by modifying a camera slightly, that way you do not need a dark bag or room. Unless you know how I would not attempt it. Try and let the canister sit for a few minutes, this will allow the film to maintain its new shape when you try to load it. The only down side to this method, besides the loss of a whole reel, is the fact that you have to remember to overexpose the film by a stop, this is due to the fact that the reel is now loaded in reverse, so light has to travel further through layers to show effect.

There is much debate about the use of cameras to do street photography .. whether to analog, or digital? bw or color? Rangefinder or SLR, Leica or olymbus? Street photography in a toycam way? why not? is clear from the terms of the results will differ, but the spirit and satisfaction when making observations, the courage to shoot, enjoy a snap anywhere, until curiosity when our film in the process of washing and scanning.
please googling about street photography with more depth, load your film, and immediately went outside (hey!! there's a life out there!)

Don't Underestimate The Toycam

Toycam

Taking pictures with digital cameras are fun. By offering some convenience and practicality in exploring creativity in taking pictures with digital cameras more and more popular. With the rapid development of technology to make anyone can record a picture just by pressing the shutter button and click the results can be directly viewed. If it is not perfect can be deleted and repeat the process again from scratch. However, the perfection of digital camera technology was not always directly proportional to the desire some people who just love the limitations of toy cameras that are popular in Indonesia

Toycam are made of plastic material, that's why it named "toy camera". Prices in the market range from Rp 35.000 starting price up to a million and above, depending on the brand.

Unlike digital cameras that use memory cards, plastic cameras still use rolls of film for the storage media. To see the results we have to go through the process of washing and print (scan) first in the photo lab. Its size is usually 35mm film (as we usually see first) and 120mm. So who says the film is deceased, it age is still a long with the advent of the fans of this cute camera.

The price of a roll film is now varied, depending on brand and size. In the market for example the price of Fuji brand film for the ASA / ISO 200 the price is Rp 25.000. For the process of washing the film and scan cost in the range Rp 10.000-Rp 20.000.

So what attracted them to pursue this hobby? Imperfection of this camera, That is the most answer when I talked with the toycamera lover. Limitations of this camera is like a light that leaks often go when the shutter button is pressed can produce images turned out unexpected and certainly unique.

Supersampler Technique

There are several techniques used to take pictures with supersampler. Each technique produces a different picture.

TECHNIQUE #1 X-PROCESS AND 2X-POSE

X marks the Supersampler spot! Load up some slide film, execute your favorite Supersampler technique, and ask the film lab to "cross-process" it - dunking your film in the "wrong" chemicals fires up all the colors in your image! Follow it up with another X-rated trick - the Double-Exposure, that is. Shoot your roll, rewind it very carefully, and reload the film! Doing this allows you to super-impose a stream of images over your used roll.

TECHNIQUE #2 ACROSS & UP

Stretch things up a bit with this easy trick! Flex your arms and pan your Supersampler from left-to-right, top-to-bottom (and vice-versa) - thereby extending your subject into a long, stretchy scene!

TECHNIQUE #3 SHAKKIN' NOT STIRRED

Fancy seeing the world in topsy-turvy? With your Supersampler in hand, flick, shake, and twist your wrist for a wonderfully crazy perspective!

TECHNIQUE #4 MOVE YOUR CAMERA

Feeling extra energetic? Put that to good use and move around your non-moving Lomographic object of desire! Flex your arm, extend your hand and get those four googling lenses into their face!

TECHNIQUE #5 MOVE YOUR SUBJECT

Allow your subject to prance and dance in front of the lenses as you keep your Supersampler super-steady!

Supersampler "Queen of all Multi-Lensed Cameras"

"One look at the quirky-looking Supersampler and you know that it's a camera like no other! This ultra-lightweight, low-maintenance 35mm camera fits perfectly in your hand for spontaneous shooting! Aim the Supersampler at your moving (or non-moving) subject, pull the ripcord, press the tiny button - and voila! You have just "sampled" your subject into four panoramic panels. So how on earth is this possible?! See those four beady eyes nestled in front of its plastic body? Those are the ultra-talented, super-sharp lenses that slice your image into four panels. Results are wickedly cool if your subject is in hyperactive motion, or if you prefer to shoot non-moving objects, you'll have to do the jumping and moving!
This lightweight shootbox operates without batteries, and needs a high ASA film (we recommend 800 ASA for all lighting conditions) of all kinds - negative, slides, color, or black & white. There are two speeds available - 4 photos in 2 seconds (.50sec/photo) or 4 photos in 0.2 seconds (.05sec/photo). No need to fuss with focus settings, since it has a fixed focus of 0.3 meter to infinity.

With its portability and convenience, the Supersampler is hailed the "Queen of all Multi-Lensed Cameras." Now you know why!

Sequel of Spinner 360 Technique Part 1

I posted spinner 360 technique part 1 yesterday, this is the sequel of the spinner 360 technique part 1, spinner technique 360 part 2.

TECHNIQUE #6 THOOTBREAKER

thootbreaker spin result

thootbreaker spin ilustration from lomography
Shooting with the Lomography Spinner 360° requires two hands: one to hold the camera and one to release the cord. But what if you need one hand for something else and still want to take a picture? It's easy: you pull the string with your teeth. Attach something soft and tasty (like a cork) to the string of the camera so you can pull it with you teeth. Hold the camera in one hand and pull the string with your teeth. While the camera takes a picture you can ride your bike, pick your nose or shake hands with the president.

TECHNIQUE #7 FOOTLOSE

footlose spin result

footlose spin ilustration from lomography
Turn the camera upside down, pull the string and release it while you hold the camera close to the ground. This dramatic perspective recalls your view from performing a headstand only without a headache or your feet showing on the image.

TECHNIQUE  #8 ROLLERCOASTER

rollercoaster spin result

Instead of holding the camera on a horizontal level, hold it aslant. As the camera rotates in one full circle you’ll receive images in wavelike perspectives. The whole world magically transforms from a at surface into a receive images in wavelike perspectives. The whole world magically transforms from a at surface into a roller-coaster of forms and gures.

TECHNIQUE #9 GROUP HUG

group hug spin result

Arrange all your friends and family in a small circle, hold the spinner 360° exactly in the middle, make sure it's in a horizontal position and spin it. It's good to have friends and even better to have them all in one picture!

TECNIQUE #10 MAKE NEW FRIENDS

make new friends spin result

The Lomography Spinner 360° is not only for taking pictures; it's a tool for interaction and investigation; the ultimate form of socio-cultural communication! Take the Lomography Spinner 360° out on the streets, approach the object of your desire, hold the handle of the camera and ask him/her to pull the trigger-cord. The result: a total surprise to the unkonwing stranger ("uh oh what is that?"), a new friend and a lovely picture with both of you in it.
